Nathan Hughes-Berry

Nathan is a UK born Toronto based writer and director. His short film The Substitute won him a Kodak Student Scholarship and screened at over fifty film festivals worldwide including Montreal World, Dresden and Brno 16 where it picked up a jury award. His follow up short, the controversial, Rape Card, was screened at Landshuter and Montreal World and was funded by the Social Science and Humanities Research Council and Shorts TV. His shorts have screened at film festivals across the world including London Short Film Festival, Dresden, Guanajuato, Fantasporto and Bucheon Fantastic Film Festival.


He is an alumni of Berlinale Talents and completed a masters degree in screenwriting at Central Saint Martins and in film production at York University. Most recently his one minute film Where do Ideas Come from? was selected for the 2018 TIFF x Instagram Shorts Festival.
